Day 4...Part 2: Beach, Pool and The Crab Shack!

In the afternoon, we decided to walk down to the beach for a couple hours. The kids just LOVE playing in the sand:) After returning from each trip to the beach, the kids would have to spend some time in the pool and hot tub. I can see a hot tub sometime in our future...I hope;)

We went to a restaurant called The Crab Shack...not the chain;) It was a unique, fun place and we all had a FUN time! We chowed on crab, shrimp, potatoes and corn on the cob:) YUMMY!!!

Day 4...Part 1: Lighthouse and Park;)

We really packed a lot into day 4 so I am gonna blog about it in two parts;) In the morning, we went to visit the Tybee Island Lighthouse Station and Museum. I have always liked lighthouses but had never actually been up in one. My China peeps all wanted to go up into it so I thought "Why not?!" Ummm...I was TERRIFIED!!! First of all, it is a lot higher up than it looks from the ground. The steps were steep and I was afraid one of the kids would trip and fall. The kids practically ran up the 187, winding steps and I tried my best to keep up, yelling the whole time for them to "wait for me"... because I didn't want them to be up on the top without me to supervise;( They waited for me at the top and then I went out first to take a look. I snapped a couple quick pics and let the kids come out but made them keep their backs "against the wall"...I kept saying this as we did a quick lap around and got the heck down from there. I am not real sure why this FREAKED me out so much but it DID:( The kids and everyone else listening to me probably thought I was a CRAZY lady...LOL!!!

Afterward we went to a nearby restaurant for lunch outside in the beautiful sunshine and then a visit to the park was in order. It was a GREAT first half of our day;)

Day 3...Fort Pulaski and River Street

We woke to rain:( The rain did clear, but it was still a little too chilly for the beach so we decided to go exploring. Our first stop was Fort Pulaski only a 10 minute drive from us. It was an old Civil War fort and the boys especially thought it was COOL! They even got a gun demonstration;)

Next we headed into Savannah...only another 10 minutes;) We walked River Street, ate lunch at Bernie's Oyster House and visited the candy store, River Street Sweets. They are famous for their pralines but I had a turtle:) YUM!

Day 2...another day at the beach:)

We also spent our second day on Tybee Island at the beach. It was a lot less crowded since it was a Monday. The waves were a little bigger and the sun was warm. PERFECT day!!!

Our FIRST full day on Tybee!

The beach was much bigger and wider than what I had imagined. It had great sand for the kids to play in and lots of shells to hunt. My China peeps especially LOVED it. They were never ready to leave;) There was also a nice big pier, shops and plenty of restaurants nearby. The pier had an ice cream shop that we visited several times:) Oh...how I miss our warm days at the beach about now;( Come on SUMMER!!!

Our adventure to Georgia:)

For Spring Break this year, we decided to try something new with our gang....a ROAD TRIP!

We packed up the Big Black Bus and picked the kids up from school a little early, about 11:30AM on Friday, April 1st. The triplets were all doing Flat Stanley projects for 2nd grade so we had 3 extra little boys along with us on this adventure;) We drove for about 9 hours...including our stop for dinner at Logan's Roadhouse and then overnighted in Knoxville, Tennessee. Then we woke and drove the rest of the way to Tybee Island, Georgia...arriving late afternoon on the 2nd. We rented a house a couple blocks from the beach. It was a nice, spacious home with a pool and a hot tub. PERFECT for the Perry family! My only wish was that it had an ocean view...yes, I know I'm spoiled;) We grilled steaks, sat in the hot tub and had a very relaxing first evening. We made it!!! And the kids are such GREAT travelers:)

A new leg for Liam?!

Almost 3 weeks ago now (wow...has my blogging stunk lately;) we took Liam to the University of Michigan Health System. They are supposed to be one of the BEST at making custom prosthetics. We HAVE to find a way to get him evened out but we are NOT ready to do any additional surgeries, so we are praying they can come up with something that will work for Liam. They did a fiberglass mold of his short leg and took lots of measurements. We go back early Tuesday morning to see what they have come up with. I am hopeful and excited!
